If PM hoped press conference would calm things down ... a couple of govt scientific advisers publicly saying it鈥檚 undermined their work and more Tory MPs coming out ... 馃憞馃徏

Members of SAGE, angry bishops, Tory MPs and - yes - even the Mail. I don't think Johnson has steadied the ship.

I'm being inundated with e mails from people angry at Johnson and his failure to condemn and sack Cummings for putting who know how many people at risk when he travelled 260 miles from London to Durham when apparently suffering from Coronavirus.

Dear civil servant, Call me if you need a lawyer. 鉂わ笍 Pro Bono DM and I'll give you my number.

In standing by Dominic Cummings, who was blatantly in breach of lockdown rules, Boris Johnson may have signed his own death warrant. The public will not stand for such egregious hypocrisy and double standards

This makes me furious. I鈥檓 so sorry for your loss, and for your ongoing pain. It鈥檚 disgusting that our Prime Minister has today made a mockery of your suffering by saying the lockdown never really mattered. May your father rest in peace.

Some naughty editing of Wiki sent to me by a friend in Spain. 馃槀

If true, this is astounding - Cummings having to run the gauntlet of heckling neighbours

Just spoke to for broadcast pool. Labour leader says govt giving impression it鈥檚 one rule for them and one rule for the rest. Says for first time he would have sacked Cummings in PM鈥檚 shoes.

I empathise with a family trying to protect their child but their government has no place for empathy. Their official website shows no exceptions to the rule of Stay At Home. No 'ifs', no 'buts'. Your government, your rules. WE'VE been complying bcos we care about others.

Spare a thought for the Civil Service media type who boiled over and found 15 minutes of fame, before....unemployment? Uncivil service

Woah, who鈥檚 hacked/gone rogue on the civil service account?

Yesterday I spoke to someone who encountered Cummings a lot in the education world. They predicted Cummings would stay: "The man's a sociopath. If he's sacked he won't stay quiet, and he knows where too many bodies are buried." It's as convincing an explanation as anything.

Good to see some forensic opposition to Cummings from former Durham Police Chief Constable Mike Barton 鈥 'Let鈥檚 not beat about the bush鈥 he broke the rules'.

The clear muting of journalists trying to follow up on their questions is not a good look

鈥渉e followed the instincts of every father鈥 says the man who has permanently socially distanced himself from an unclear number of children
